Eva Cassidy "The Story" presented by Elsa Jean McTaggart. : 8pm

Eva Cassidy: an icon of acoustic music. Wistful and emotional vocals, beautiful
guitar accompaniment, Eva Cassidy had the power to move audiences through
her interpretation of well-known songs.
Inspired by her favourite artist, award-winning musician Elsa Jean McTaggart
presents a brand-new show for 2018 – Eva Cassidy: The Story.
Using video, story and song, Elsa Jean McTaggart channels Eva Cassidy’s musical
voice through her own. Elsa has devised this very special show to pay homage to
this true interpreter of song. Audiences the world over tell Elsa how much she
reminds them of Eva Cassidy as she, too, exudes beauty inside and out as well as
possessing the most hypnotic of voices.
A hit with a wide audience at Edinburgh Fringe 2017 where the show was
previewed selling out many times, Eva Cassidy: The Story will be a deeply
personal, poignant tribute by Elsa to an inspirational voice and an incredibly
talented musician who was discovered by the world tragically late.

FILM NIGHT - Cornwall’s Native Poet - Charles Causley : 7:45 for 8:15pm

The first in our series of documentary film by Jane Darke, an extended 90 minute version of the shorter TV film shown to acclaim at UTEA in 2018.

This, her fourth film, is about the well-loved Cornish poet Charles Causley a favourite poet for adults and children.
Causley was a good friend to many poets including Ted Hughes and Philip Larkin. He produced numerous volumes of poetry and was often on BBC radio. He worked for most of his life as a school teacher in Launceston.
The film features many of his best poems, some set to music by his distant relation Jim Causley on his successful CD CYPRUS WELL. There is archive footage of Causley and interviews with poets who respect his work such as Simon Armitage, Roger McGough and Andrew Motion. There are also memories from people who knew him well, Mike Shepherd of Kneehigh, co-workers and friends in his home town and stories of his experiences during World War II while in the navy.
This film was funded by Feast, Cornwall Council and Arts Council England, The Charles Causley Trust, The Q Fund, Rick Stein, Launceston Town Council.
