Sarana VerLin and Heather Bristow from America and James Slater from the UK could well be the inventor of a new musical genre: Folk Stroke Americana. Bringing you roots music influences from both sides of the ocean their style is a fusion of Contemporary Folk, Alt-Country, Swampy Blues, Old-Timey/Bluegrass and Red Dirt music. Their musical chemistry is based around their entwining voices and sublime harmonies, bedded on a layer of rhythmic guitar and sweet smoky violin. Together as singer-songwriters they perform their own compositions along with original arrangements of old and new songs…performing songs of love and loss…some grit, some sweetness, some darkness, some light…all with a bit of humour along the way.

Individually, they’ve toured UK, Europe, USA and Canada. Together, Sarana VerLin and Heather Bristow (USA) & James Slater (UK) bring you roots music from both sides of the pond. Their musical chemistry is based around their entwining voices bedded on a layer of rhythmic guitar, smoky violin, tasteful mandolin and beautiful harmonies. They are joined by Ben Dickins on electric and acoustic guitar and Will Southcote-Want

Sarana VerLin
With classical training, rock & roll history and American folk roots, Michigan native Sarana has honed her skills with thousands of gigs in the UK, Europe, USA and Canada. She’s worked with Grammy award winning producers and is the winner of multiple Detroit Music Awards including Folk/Acoustic Instrumentalist and Folk/Acoustic Recording of the year. You can find her in the Detroit MetroX Music Hall of Fame along with Aretha Franklin, Patti Smith, and Iggy Pop.

James Slater
One could describe James much like his favourite guitar…aged whisky and tobacco stained with knocks and scratches that tell you they’ve seen a lot of life on the road. Recently featured in Acoustic Guitar magazine, James has performed in clubs and venues across the UK, Europe and USA. His songwriting blends folk, blues, & Americana while conveying his own unique take on life using his trademark fingerpicking style and utilizing alternate tunings.

Heather Bristow
North Carolina native Heather has performed at festivals and venues in USA and UK in a variety of line-ups and is known for her harmony singing and heartfelt songs. She has released two well-received self-penned CDs and was a finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest. Tracks from both her CDs have been featured on radio programmes around the world; Hope on the Vine spent a spell in the Roots Report top five for the Folk Radio Chart alongside Red Molly and Carolina Chocolate Drops.
