FILM NIGHT - The Wrecking Season : 7:45 for 8:15pm

The second in our series of documentary films by Jane Darke.

In winter Jane scours the beaches for natural and man made wreckage that washes ashore from the Atlantic Ocean, the shores of America, fishing vessels and Cornish communities nearby. This was the subject of the documentary film she made with Nick Darke, THE WRECKING SEASON…
The film is written and narrated by Nick and filmed and directed by Jane. It is an expression of Cornwall’s place in the Atlantic community. Jane and Nick had become experts on the objects transported by ocean currents, seeds from the Caribbean, fisheries tags from Newfoundland and tropical hardwoods swept in by the tides.
First broadcast in 2005 on BBC4. Winner of First Time Director Award Celtic Film and TV Festival.

Comedy Show: Les Admirables : 8pm

Les Admirables is a musical comedy show by multi-award-winning comedian Harriet Braine, which focuses on a selection of women from the history of science and technology. Some of them you will be familiar with, others perhaps not! Throughout the show, Harriet finds herself reminiscing about her achievements as a performer, from childhood to the present day, and struggles to overcome her inner demons, personified by a villain called Philip Stein (it's a pun... nothing to do with Philip Stein the sculptor). So, basically, it's an historical feminist coming-of-age musical! Something for everyone!

In the second half of the show, Harriet will also be treating us to songs from her previous two shows, "Total Eclipse of the Art" and "Apocalibrary".
