Qigong classes : 10am

Qigong is moving meditation, the integration of breathing practice with mindful movement to allow your body to relax and your mind to settle, through a series of gentle exercises. Qigong is also effective for your physical health, improving flexibility, balance and core strength. Classes with Sally are inclusive, supportive and relaxed. They are suitable for all ages, fitness levels and abilities.

Your first class is only £5, then £10 drop-in after that or £32 for a 4 class block.

SCJC JAZZ JAM : 8pm

From 8pm once a month (every second Friday)
Free entry, donations welcome, bar open, PA provided


Bringing the benefit of jazz as an art form to the local community and to multiple levels of ability. All instruments/vocalists will be made welcome. If you can play the blues and want to have a crack at jazz – this is for you! If you want to come and just listen that is fine too. Jazz Jam Sessions are led by John Cook, Shairon Lloyd, Peter Neale and JJ Shaw.

Tea, Cake and Watercolours Class : 10am - Midday

Over this 5 week course you will learn the gentile arts of tea-drinking, cake-eating and watercolour painting.

From stitching your own sketchbook, to learning about materials and the tricks and tips of the watercolour artist; this is all you need to get started.

All materials and refreshments are provided. Please let Emma know of any dietary requirements and she will do her best to accommodate.

JO PHILBY : 8pm

Popular Orkney based singer/songwriter Jo Philby with Elaine Grieve are performing at Under the Edge Arts this July.

With a soulful & expressive vocal & Jo’s ability to transmit emotion into each word, Jo gathers you up for a totally absorbing musical journey, utilising textures of folk, roots and country to tell her stories of the sea and Island life. Jo is joined by Orcadian born Elaine Grieve who sensitively accompanies on mandola & guitar with beautiful haunting harmony vocals.

With three albums to her credit now, Jo and Elaine can often be seen performing throughout Orkney and regularly tour further south too – delighting audiences with their warm and friendly stage presence alongside their music and song.
