Carmina's music blends contemporary acoustic, traditional Celtic and Jazz styles in original songs. During their long history the band has recorded many albums; two of these were produced by Irish music legend Dónal Lunny and have had excellent reviews worldwide. The album My Crescent City, their second collaboration with Dónal, who produced and also guested on it, earned Carmina a major publishing deal with Peter Gabriel's Real World company and was hailed as '...absolutely gorgeous - a masterpiece...' (Frank Hennessey, BBC Wales Celtic Heartbeat) and '... a musical feast - 9+/10...'( - and voted Album of the Week on RT? 1 (Irish national radio).

Carmina have recently recorded a new album, entitled Landmarks, at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios; this features their own core band of world-class players, some of the best UK jazz and folk musicians, and 2 choirs. As well as featuring new original material, the CD includes new arrangements of both traditional Celtic and contemporary material, and is released on I&E Records in association with Real World music publishing.

The Carmina band features established professional musicians of the highest calibre. Singer and songwriter Pippa Marland has ‘a wondrous voice, enchanting and emoting’ (Time Out) and is also an accomplished saxophonist, adding alto/soprano saxes and whistles to the mix of instruments. She and masterful arranger/songwriter Rob King (acoustic guitar, mandola, bodhrán) are the founders of Carmina, and compose the songs around which the band weave their magic, crossing musical boundaries effortlessly and blending styles organically into a subtle but powerful original sound.

Pippa and Rob are joined for this gig by core Carmina band member Paul Bradley - Paul is a brilliant, maverick guitar virtuoso, originally from Belfast and currently living in Bristol (he is also known as a member of the band 'Three Cane Whale') – he is also a wonderful singer, with a great harmonising ear and a voice which perfectly complements Pippa's own lead vocals.

The SOUNDS OF SIMON - A Tribute to Simon and Garfunkel : 8pm

Old Friends Duo Tour

The Sounds of Simon is a tribute to the wonderful music of Simon and Garfunkel. The Old Friends Duo tour is how the songs are meant to be: just two voices and one guitar. This is the music of Simon and Garfunkel up close and intimate.

Relive the classics, from Mrs Robinson, to Homeward Bound, as well as some rarely heard songs like A Most Peculiar Man, and A Poem on the Underground Wall. Paul Simon is a wonderful songwriter and this is your chance to hear these songs as they were originally performed.

Paul and Art are played to perfection, bringing in elements of their famously fractious relationship, as well as replicating the beautiful harmonies flawlessly. This is a wonderful show filled with excellent music, nostalgia, and a genuine love for some great musicians.
