HATTIE BRIGGS : 8pm
English singer songwriter Hattie Briggs writes and sings straight from the heart. Her crystalline vocals and insightful lyrics resonate across all ages, rekindling old memories and capturing imaginations. Combined with catchy melody lines and a cheeky, charismatic stage presence, it’s unsurprising the twenty three year-old is seriously impressing industry figures and fans alike.
After receiving a nomination for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award, the singer-songwriter quit Oxford University during the 2nd year of a Russian degree to start her professional musical career in January 2014. Since then, her music has been featured by London Live, BBC Points West and Sky Arts TV. UK Radio play includes BBC Radios 1, 2, 6 Music and London, as well as many regional stations. She is also receiving regular airplay in the Netherlands, Canada, Ireland, Scotland and has been heard as far afield as Australia.
Hattie’s debut album, “Red & Gold" won her the Laurel Canyon debut album and best new artist awards in 2015. She released her second album, "Young Runaway", in July 2016. The album has received multiple 5 star reviews over the summer she has been the subject of major features in magazines including Maverick. Hattie plays both solo and up to a seven piece band. She is a multi-instrumentalist playing piano, guitar and ukulele.
“Young Runaway, the sophomore album from British artist Hattie Briggs is an epic masterpiece.” Lisa Hafey, Essentially Pop
“This is the chance to enjoy another stunning set of songs from this talented young artist.” Trevor Raggatt, R2
“ "Red & Gold" was a strong debut that showed that Hattie Briggs was an exceptional talent but not even that album prepared us for the little gems that sparkle and shine which make up "Young Runaway". Where Hattie goes from here is anybody’s guess and she no doubt is already working on that. For now though "Young Runaway" is one of those albums which is required daily listening.” Malcolm Carter, Penny Black Music.
