The Open Secrets - MOONSHINE AND DUST : 8pm
Americana band the Open Secrets return to Under the Edge to perform their new show “Moonshine and Dust"
Moonshine and Dust tells the true story of Open Secrets founder Steve Page’s Great, Great Uncle and Aunt, Bert and Agnes.
In 1914 Bert set sail from for America in search of work. Two years earlier Agnes made the same journey hoping for a new start in a new land, leaving behind the daughter she had out of wedlock. Moonshine and Dust is their story told through classic Americana songs and songs inspired by their adventures.
It is a story of heartache, heartbreak and war, of life on a southern plantation, bootleggers and hard liquor. It is the story of how Bert and Agnes eventually met and were saved by their love for eachother.
The Open Secrets released their first, self-titled album in 2013. The follow up “Rain upon the sea” was released in 2015 to critical acclaim. Rock n’ Reel magazine described it as “simply marvellous”. "When I heard these guys I thought they were from East Nashville, not Bristol" (Dave Cash Country, BBC Radio)
The Open Secrets last performed at UTEA in 2016 when they played their homage to Bob Dylan “Tangled up in Dylan"
