MIRANDA SYKES : 8pm
Miranda Sykes, the acclaimed singer and bassist with ‘Show of Hands’, is returning to her roots. With a career spanning over 20 years (during which time she has played with many high-profile folk musicians and singers), she will be touring as she started out: one woman, one bass, and one guitar.
‘Borrowed Places’ is a project that draws its inspiration primarily from the songs and landscapes of her native Lincolnshire, seen through the eyes of someone who has lived away for many years. With her sensational voice, and accompanying herself, Sykes interprets the soul of the land and takes her audience on a journey that resonates with us all.
Miranda says, “The themes of ‘Borrowed Places’ are not specific; the land changes, it grows, it shrinks, it adapts and it resists, but most of all it lives and breathes. I’m really proud of the album and I can’t wait to showcase it on my upcoming solo tour.”
“Emotionally engaging, these clearly enunciated and beautifully expressed songs with their deftly executed musical accompaniment constitute a truly enchanting package.” The Living Tradition
Miranda will be bringing her unique brand of magic to a string of village halls, folk clubs and venues throughout the country in early 2018. Tickets for ‘Borrowed Places’ are on sale now.
